TIG welding torch electrode coversElectrode covers are selected according to the size and type of the TIG welding torch. The burner covers are chosen with the same marking as the burner.Three sizes of electrode covers are commonly available for burners - long, medium and short. Medium and short covers are chosen when welding is required in places where a long cover would be a nuisance. Short electrode covers are used e.g. for pipe welding and TIG welding in very narrow spaces. The covers are hollow inside so that the tungsten electrode can be inserted into them. The electrode is inserted into the electrode housing through the cage. Tightening the cover clamps the jaws of the clamp, which then clamps the tungsten electrode to keep it from moving. The electrode cover also adjusts the length of the electrode overlap through the nozzle.
